Jan 23, 2018 (newstodate): The Estonian carrier Nordica saw passenger volumes rising over 60 percent, y-o-y, in 2017.
A total of 613,000 passengers thus traveled with the carrier that grew its aircraft fleet over the year from six to 16 aircraft by the end of 2017, building a critical mass for the sustained growth planned for.
The fleet comprises five ATR 72-600 operated for SAS, two Bombardier CRJ700 and nine CRJ900 aircraft.
Technically, the aircraft are leased by the subsidiary of Nordic Aviation Group, Regional Jet, 49 percent owned by the carrier's strategic partner LOT, as the capacity provider to Nordica of aircraft on Estonian AOC.
Set up in the aftermath of the demise of Estonian Air, Nordic Aviation, later renamed Nordica, performed its first flight on November 8, 2015, with aircraft operated by Adria Airways in cooperation with BMI, Trade Air, NextJet and Carpatair.
