Sep 12, 2017 (newstodate): The Swedish carrier BRA, Braathens Regional Airlines, has adjusted its orders placed with Bombardier for 10 new aircraft to replace its existing fleet of Avro RJ aircraft.
Replacing the original order for five CS100 and five CS300 aircraft, BRA will instead take delivery of 10 CS100 thus retreating from taking in the larger version of the aircraft, with the smaller CS100 better suited for the airline's regional route network.
The news has not been communicated by the airline itself, but was displayed by Bombardier in its Program Status Report, dated June 30, 2017.
The original order was placed in June 2011, with the first delivery slated for 2014.
But deliveries will now start only from 2020 as BRA froze the order in January 2017 in response to the Swedish goernment's decision to introduce an environmental tax on air passengers threathening, in BRA's opinion, the economics of air transportation in Sweden.
