Sep 08, 2017 (newstodate): The Lithuanian ACMI and charter carrier GetJet Airlines is doing well with Classic-generation aircraft while preparing for a future transition to NG aircraft.
-Actually, our business model is well suited to operations with Classic generation aircraft, but we are of course keeping an eye on the situation in order to prepare for a future with New Generation aircraft, says Benas Laurinaitis, GetJet Airlines CEO.
-You might think that is would be relatively easier to source Classic generation aircraft, but this is actually not the case. We are acquiring our latest aircraft, an Airbus A320 from AerCap, a large leasing company with a portfolio of over 1,000 aircraft. But even so, they tell us that to get another Classic generation aircraft would require about 18 or even 24 months to source.
-The demand in the market is huge as the volume of air travels is rising, and with a rise in demand for aircraft, the cost of aircraft leasing is also rising correspondingly, says Mr Laurinaitis.
