Sep 25, 2017 (newstodate): Based in Berlin with two Airbus A320 aircraft from the start in October 2015, Small Planet Airlines Germany is to spread its wings further in the market with more aircraft and new bases.
Managed by Andreas Wobig and Oliver Pawel, the carrier has grown from two Airbus A320 aircraft in 2015 to four during this summer, and plans are to have 10 aircraft in the fleet in summer 2018, including one spare aircraft to support punctuality and thus minimize costs from delays etc.
-It is undecided if all aircraft will be added to our AOC, or if we might operate one or two aircraft from our Polish sister carrier like this summer when one aircraft was brought in from Lithuania. Anyway, it is great for us to be able to share resources in a flexible way among the Group's carriers, says Alexander Wobig.
-In 2018 Small Planet Airlines Germany will be expanding into new bases where aircraft and crews will be stationed at Hamburg, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Leipzig and Hanover, while one aircraft will be based at Hurghada in Egypt to provide flights to a number of German destinations.
-The spare aircraft will be based at Paderborn and dedicated to support the airline's punctuality and rein-in on costs in case of delays.
-This aircraft may occasionally be put on short-term ad-hoc assignments within the group, but will otherwise be available only for our own back-up purposes, says Mr Wobig
