Sep 12, 2017 (newstodate): Iceland's Keflavik Airport is seeing ever-growing passenger and air traffic figures as new airlines introduce flights or existing operators increase frequencies and destinations.
The expectations for the coming winter season, starting by the end of October 2017, are that a total of 15 airlines will be offering flights between Keflavik Airport and 69 destinations, while expectations ahead of last year's start of the winter season were that 14 airlines would be offering flights between Keflavik and 57 destinations, which was already a record for the airport.
The increasing traffic at Keflavik Airport will thus bring around 3.8 mio seats in the air on flights to and from Iceland, an increase by 27 percent, y-o-y, during November 2017-March 2018.
The summer season 2017, now soon to end, saw 27 commercial airlines operating direct flights to Iceland from 78 destinations across Europe and North America.
