Sep 25, 2017 (newstodate): The Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair is to open its second base in Bulgaria in 2018 as part of its strategy for Central and East Europe.
Ryanair has picked Burgas, on the Black Sea coast, to be established as its new base in Bulgaria from late March 2018.
The carrier is to allocate one Boeing 737-800 aircraft to its new base, setting up flights from Burgas to 10 destinations including Bratislava in Slovakia, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt Hahn, and Memmingen in Germany, Krakow and Warsaw Modlin in Poland, Milan Bergamo in Italy, Riga in Latvia and Tel Aviv in Israel, all with two weekly rotations, and Rzeszow in Poland served once weekly.
On October 30, 2016, Ryanair entered the Bulgarian market with the opening of its first base at Sofia Airport, operating one Boeing 737-800 aircraft to 21 destinations.
