Sep 15, 2017 (newstodate): Budapest Airport is dedicated to grow its air cargo business as part of its current BUD:2020 Development Programme.
Part of the first phase of the cargo development program is the opening of two facilities dedicated DHL Express - one 6,000 sq m express cargo handling terminal capable of handling 6,000 shipments per hour and one office facility.
The second phase of the program comprises the development of a Cargo City with 16,000 sq m of warehouse and office space next to Terminal 2, due to be completed in 2018.
With the completion in 2019 of the separate projects under the development program, Budapest Airport will raise its handling capacity to 250,000 tonnes per year.
Budapest Airport handled a record volume of 72,161 tonnes of air cargo from January to July 2017, an increase of 19.6 percent, y-o-y.
