Sep 26, 2017 (newstodate): Two factors especially are key drivers behind the successful expansion of Small Planet Airlines Germany that is to grow further in 2018 with more aircraft and more bases in Germany.
-On one hand we are responding to a significant increase in demands from existing and new customers, says Andreas Wobig, Small Planet Airlines Germany CEO.
-Our customer portfolio now comprises Germany's four largest tour operators, TUi and Thomas Cook and new customers FTI Touristik and DER Touristik Deutschland, and this is behind the setting up of a number of new bases in 2018.
-Another, and maybe the most important driver is the consolidation in the German and European airline industry where carriers seek to cluster other smaller carriers around them to form larger entities such as has been the case with for instance Eurowings that has invited a number of carriers to form a common network.
-The consequence of this is that carriers offer fixed solutions to tour operators including a set number of aircraft based at specific airports and operating settled schedules.
-Our business model is the opposite. Despite the Group's growing aircraft fleet we consider ourselves a niche carrier offering only full-charter solutions tailored to the needs of the individual tour operators. And no-one else is actually offering this in the market any more.
-We base the aircraft where our customer needs it and operate routes with the frequency required by the tour operator. This grants 100 percent flexibility, and we are certainly the only carrier today to offer this, says Mr Wobig.
