Sep 22, 2017 (newstodate): Discomfort over North Korea's random firings of missiles is spreading into civil aviation as well.
As a result of the recent instances of North Korean missiles flying over Japan, so far three European airlines have decided to change routings from October on flights to Japan.
SAS, Swiss and Lufthansa will thus no longer fly over the Sea of Japan. Instead, flights on the route will pass over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido and along the north-eastern coast of the country.
These changes will reportedly not result in longer flying hours.
