Aug 24, 2017 (newstodate): The carrier Ukraine International Airlines is planning for a major expansion of its intercontinental route network.
Already starting in September, 2017, the carrier will launch flights from Kiev to Delhi in India with four weekly rotations, and to Toronto in Canada with three weekly rotations.
Further down the line, UIA is also planning for launch of flights from Kiev to Shanghai, Beijing, New York, and Bangkok.
Today, Ukraine International Airlines serves New York as the only destination in North America.
Direct flights betwen Kiev and Toronto were operated in the 90'ies by Airlines of Ukraine, and continued by Aerosvit from May 28, 2003, until the carrier folded its wings in January 2013.
UIA flights to Toronto have been on the agenda of UIA since Ukraine regained its Category I status by FAA in 2013, and hopes were to launch the flights already in 2014.
