Aug 15, 2017 (newstodate): As expected, air cargo volumes at Riga Airport did grow steeply in July 2017 - the first month of operations into Latvia by Turkish Cargo.
The airport handled a total of 2,349 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 57.6 percent, y-o-y.
While exports did grow by 34 percent, y-o-y, in July, the biggest increase was seen in exports that were up by no less than 75 percent in July.
In January-July 2017 the airport thus reports a growth by 9.7 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 12,475 tonnes.
Turkish Cargo introduced its freighter flights from July 1, 2017, between Istanbul and Riga Airport with two weekly Airbus A330-200F rotations.
The freighter service comes on top of the company's passenger flights between Istanbul and Riga since April 19, 2006
