Aug 14, 2017 (newstodate): Originally, May 15, 2016 was set as the closing date of the ongoing tender process for Serbia's Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport.
Now, the bidding deadline has been extended to October 23, 2017, as a result of bidders' requests - and the interest for the contract has exceeded all expectations.
Runners up are four participants a consortium comprising Incheon Airport together with Turkey's Yatirimlar ve isletme and Russia's VTB Capital Infrastructure; China's HNA Airport Group that has now also completed the acquisition of the German airport Frankfurt-Hahn; a consortium comprising the French company Meridiam, Zurich Airport and the French Eiffage; a consortium consisting of India's GMR Infrastructure Limited and tghe Greek company Terna; and finally the French company Vinci.
The winner will be announced in December 2017, and the final contract will be signed in April 2018.
The tender will offer a concession for 25-30 years of commercial management of the airport that will boost the development and expansion of the facilities to generate more revenues through fresh investments.
It is understood the winner of the tender will undertake the construction of a new terminal, runway and supporting infrastructure including a hotel, a new cargo center, and a car park.
