Aug 23, 2017 (newstodate): In 2017, air cargo volumes are booming at two out of three Scandinavian capital airports.
Norway's Oslo Airport emerges as the undisputed leader in growth, thanks to the insatiable demand for uplift of its seafood export shipments.
Oslo Airport has thus seen its cargo in January-June 2017 up by no less than 32.1 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 86,700 tonnes thanks to a massive influx of freighter capacity.
Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport has also seen its volumes up in H1, 2017, growing by 10.6 percent, y-o-y, to 88,721 tonnes.
Barely managing growth in cargo at all during the period, Copenhagen Airport has so far indiated that growth in H1 2017 was "slightly less" than two percent.
The airport has not, however, provided any tonnage figure for the period, nor has the H1 2016 figure been released.
Outside Scandinavia, Finland also saw little growth in cargo during H1, 2017, recording only 0.2 percent increase to 38,703 tonnes.
Despite the hefty growth at Oslo Airport and the absence of figures for Copenhagen Airport, Copenhagen Airport still regins supreme in cargo volumes as seen from the full-year cargo statistics for 2016.
Copenhagen Airport thus generated a total of 423,042 tonnes of cargo in 2016, up 13.5 percent, while Stockholm Arlanda Airport saw its volumes up by 12.5 percent to 166,123 tonnes.
No 2016-data are available for Oslo Airport, but in 2015 this airport handled 133,724 tonnes of cargo.
In 2016, Finland's Helsinki Airport saw its volumes down by 0.1 percent to 177,284 tonnes.
