Aug 02, 2017 (newstodate): The AP Moller-Maersk Group's logistics company, DAMCO is seeking staff to build up its airfreight position in the Swedish market.
For a start, DAMCO is seeking airfreight forwarders to establish a new Air Cargo team at its Customer Service Office in Gothenburg, DAMCO's Swedish headquarter.
-Some years ago, DAMCO centralized its Nordic airfreight sales efforts at HQs in Denmark, but a new strategy is now unfolding to bring back DAMCO's airfreight business to the national markets to boost competitiveness, says Martin Werge, DAMCO Head of Airfreight NEU since December 1, 2016, with responsibilities comprising the Nordic, Baltic and East European markets including also Russia.
-For historical reasons, DAMCO has long held a leading position in seafreight but airfreight has now come into the focus as well, and our target is to grow our share of the Swedish airfreight market, reflecting the size and scope of our forwarding business.
-This is materializing first in a build-up of an airfreight department at Gothenburg, but in a later stage I would foresee a similar development at Stockholm as we grow our presence in the Swedish aircargo market where we are still a minor player. After all, Stockholm is the prime hub for Sweden's airfreight industry, says Mr Werge.
