Aug 31, 2017 (newstodate): Kazakhstan is increasingly gaining rights to air services into EU airspace and airports.
As the latest Kazakh carrier, SCAT has now obtained the coveted TCO certification from EASA granting full rights to operate scheduled air services between Kazakhstan and destinations within EU.
The airline operates a fleet comprising one Boeing 767-300, four Boeing 757-200, seven Boeing 737 and six Bombardier CRJ-200 aircraft.
The first Kazakh carrier to obtain this EASA ranking was Air Astana after EU in December 2016 lifted Kazakhstan's carriers off its Air Safety List comprising airlines that do not meet international safety standards and are therefore banned from operations into EU, or operate with specific limitations.
In June 2017, two more Kazakh carriers Prime Aviation and Kaz Air Jet obtained EASA's confirmation of the successful completion of all necessary procedures and full compliance with European requirements allowing them open access to start flights to destinations in EU.
Four more carriers in Kazakhstan are now also in the auditing process by EASA for TCO certification.
