Aug 30, 2017 (newstodate): Cathay Pacific seems to be close to annnouncing the opening of three new intercontinental routes.
The carrier has been running a contest, closing August 31, inviting people to guess the new destinations based on a video and first-letter in the name of the coming new destinations that are all alledgedly in beer-producing markets.
Based on the clues, an easy guess would be that Cathay Pacific is about to announce flights from Hong Kong to Copenhagen, Brussels and Dublin.
Expectations are that the new destinations will be announced already in the first week of September 2017.
Cathay Pacific last served Scandinavia with flights from Hong Kong to Stockholm, Sweden, from February 14, 1995, first routed via Frankfurt and later operated as direct non-stop flights from winter 1995, but the airline pulled out again after a few years.
Since September 10, 2015, SAS has been operating flights from Stockholm to Hong Kong with five weekly rotations using Airbus A340/330 on the route.
