Aug 21, 2017 (newstodate): Icelandair has landed an ACMI contract with the South American carrier Latin America Wings, based in Chile.
Under the contract, Icelandair will position one Boeing 757-200 aircraft with the Chilean carrier for flights between Santiago and Caracas, in Argentina, during the winter season.
Latin America Wings already operates flights on the route, but with a Boeing 737-300 aircraft requiring an en-route stop at Lima, in Peru.
Plans are also for LAW to launch flights with the Icelandair Boeing 757 aircraft from Caracas to New York and Miami in the USA in a cooperation with the Venezuelan carrier Estelar Airlines, pending US approval.
The ACMI contract allows Icelandair to optimize the use of its aircraft fleet during the slack winter season.
