Aug 25, 2017 (newstodate): Azerbaijan's coming new low-cost carrier Buta Airways has now received its first aircraft.
The carrier, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Airlines, has taken in its first Embraer 190 aircraft, leased by the mother company from Danish lessor Nordic Aviation Capital.
Plans are that flights will commence from Baku to Moscow, Kyiv, Antalya, Kazan, Mineralnye Vody, Tbilisi and Tehran starting from September 1, with flights from Baku to Istanbul and St Petersburg and from Ganja to Moscow starting from October 29, 2017.
Delivery of a second Embraer 190 will follow soon, and the fleet will initially be expanded to a total of eight aircraft.
Fully-owned by Azerbaijan Airlines, Buta Airways will be based at Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
