Aug 02, 2017 (newstodate): Cargo volumes through Estonia's Tallinn Airport continued its downward trend in July 2017.
With a total of 862 tonnes, including mail, the drop in July was 15.2 percent, y-o-y, primarily caused by a sustained decline in export cargo that was down 24.3 percent, while imports were also down by 12.5 percent, y-o-y.
During the first seven months of 2017, the airport has thus been handling a total of 6,143 tonnes of cargo and mail, a decline by 16.8 percent, y-o-y, driven by not least a drop in export cargo that was down 31.3 percent to 2,942 tonnes during the period.
-We must admit that there is strong competition in the field, and the decline in 2017 reflects also that despite much effort by Post11 to attract Chinese e-trade logistics to Estonia, the project has not yet fully materialized, Priit Koff, Tallinn Airport Public and International Relations Manager, said earlier this year to newstodate.
