Aug 01, 2017 (newstodate): Starting from May 2017, the Icelandic LCC WOW Air commenced flights between Cork, in Ireland, and Keflavik, supported by the Danish aircraft maintenance company Aeroservice, already a provider to WOW Air at its home base at Keflavik Airport.
But with WOW Air's decision to close operations at Cork from the end of this year's summer schedule, Aerospace is forced to re-think its Irish plans as well..
-Time has been too limited for us to seek other airline customers at Cork as was otherwise the plan, says Andrew Djurhuus, Aeroservice CEO and Accountable Manager.
-On the other hand, we are now assessing the situation and this includes also other Irish business opportunities in the pipeline, so we have definitely not written-off a continued engagement in this market.
-So far, what is certain is that we are continuing to support WOW Air till their last day of operations at Cork, and we will make a timely decision about future business here, says Mr Djurhuus.
Set up only in 2015 and EASA Part-145 certified by early 2015, Aeroservice has now also been licensed as one of the first maintenance providers to the Airbus A320neo powered by CFM engines, which will further boost Aeroservice's business potentials.
