Aug 31, 2017 (newstodate): Yesterday's rumors have turned into today's news of Cathay Pacific's launch of services from Hong Kong to Copenhagen Airport.
Starting from May 1, 2018, the oneworld member-carrier will be offering three weekly rotations on the route in the summer schedule ending in October, and it remains then to be seen if the route will be turned into a year-round service.
Flights will be performed with Cathay Pacific's Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
Cathay Pacific last served Scandinavia with flights from Hong Kong to Stockholm, Sweden, from February 14, 1995, first routed via Frankfurt and later operated as direct non-stop flights from winter 1995, but the airline pulled out again after a few years.
Since September 10, 2015, SAS has been operating flights from Stockholm to Hong Kong with five weekly rotations using Airbus A340/330 on the route.
The announcement of the new route to Hong Kong is the second good piece of news for Copenhagen Airport in 2017 that will also see the launch of services by Air India from Delhi starting from September 16, 2017, with three Boeing 787-8 rotations.
