Jul 06, 2017 (newstodate): Sweden's Smaaland Vaxjo Airport is upbeat about growth in traffic and passenger volumes in 2017.
Behind the growth is the opening of new routes as well as increased frequencies on existing routes, including both charter and scheduled services.
Today marks the start of Czech carrier CSA's seasonal flights between Prague and Vaxjo with two weekly rotations, and this will be followed by the addition of new WIZZ Air flights between Skopje and Vaxjo, also to be operated twice weekly.
WIZZ Air has also launched year-round flights from this spring to Vaxjo from Tuzla in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Ryanair has launched flights from Gdansk in Poland also from spring 2017.
The airport has thus seen an increase by 25 percent, y-o-y, in passengers in the first half of this year, and is now targeting a year-end total of about 230,000 passengers in 2017.
