Jul 07, 2017 (newstodate): Turn-around times are crucial to the low-cost carriers, and Norwegian has thus opted for a new belly-hold cargo loading system.
The carrier has selected Telair to deliver its Sliding Carpet Edge loading system for belly-hold freight on its new Boeing 737 MAX8 fleet.
The order includes 100 firm orders and 100 options for the new Edge system, an all carbon fiber system where the weight has been reduced by 40 percent over prior system generations.
The Sliding Carpet system enables an unload and reload process of the aircraft lower holds in only 20 minutes, allowing reduced time on the tarmac, providing improved working conditions for the ramp handling staff and increasing operating efficiency.
