Jun 19, 2017 (newstodate): Following a tender process, WFS has emerged as the winner of a three-year contract to provide cargo handling for Qatar Airways in Stockholm.
Succeeding Spirit Air Cargo handling as provider, WFS expects to handle some 12,000 tonnes a year for Qatar Airways at its cargo centre at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, opened in 2012.
The new contract extends WFS' working relationship with Qatar Airways in Europe, where it is already providing cargo handling services for the airline in Madrid, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Paris, and in Copenhagen Airport where WFS has been handling Qatar Airways since July 15, 2013, replacing Spirit Air Cargo Handling.
Qatar Airways first entered Scandinavia with a route between Doha and Stockholm, Sweden, launched on November 27, 2007, adding a route between Doha and Copenhagen, Denmark, from March 30, 2010, and between Doha and Oslo from October 5, 2011.
In the Norwegian market, Qatar Airways is provided with cargo handling by Roadfeeders.
