Jun 14, 2017 (newstodate): Russia and Italy have negotiated a new more liberal air services agreement allowing for an increase in flights, opening of new destinations and added capacity for airlines of both countries.
As one novelty is the addition of three more destinations open for airlines from the two sides, with Russia selecting Bari, Cagliari and Olbia while the Italian side has yet to designate its additional three Russian destinations.
The parties have also agreed that the aviation authorities of both countries may replace existing destinations with new ones, excepting Rome, Milan, Venice, Moscow and St Petersburg that will remain comprised by the agreement.
The agreement also raises the number of flight frequencies on the routes and holds options for addition frequencies to be applied for.
From this summer, Italian passenger and cargo carriers have also been granted 5th Freedem rights on flights via Sochi, Vladivostok and Kaliningrad, expect on routes using the Trans Sibir lanes.
