Jun 14, 2017 (newstodate): One new project is under formation to fish for its share in Norway's seemingly bottomless pool of seafood exports.
Behind the new bid in the seafood air logistics business is the Danish company Backbone Aviation, in a close dialogue with Norwegian partners and potential airports.
-We have actually everything ready on our side, including access to Boeing 747 freighter capacity at short notice, says Einar Adalsteinsson, Backbone Aviation Board member and Director of Sales and Marketing.
-What determines the timing of the launch of services is thus the eventual choice of airport in the northern part of the country. There are a few options under consideration, some of which will rely on certain regional political decisions, and we are thus awaiting the outcome of these negotiations before we can move further ahead.
-On the outbound side, the volumes of seafood shipments are secured, but we are of course aware of the crucial issue of a balanced operation to secure the sustainability of the service.
-The operation will therefore bring Norwegian seafood directly to destinations in Asia while the return flight will bring in e-trade commodities from Asia to an airport in eastern Europe, yet to be announced, says Mr Adalsteinsson.
