Jun 07, 2017 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has launched the process of selecting a future replacement of its current fleet of short and medium haul aircraft.
In service with airBaltic now are 12 Bombardier Q400 aircraft, the first of which was delivered in November 2009.
The carrier has now published a RFP to shortlist candidates for the suitable replacment of this aircraft type.
-According to its business plan Horizon 2021, airBaltic is carrying out discussions with aircraft manufacturers to identify the optimal solution to replace the existing 12 Bombardier Q400 aircraft starting from 2020, says Alise Briede, airBaltic Head of Corporate Communications.
-At the beginning, the order is planned for 14 aircraft with deliveries starting from 2020, including options for additional aircreaft as the airline seeks expansion of its business.
-airBaltic currently is evaluating different offers and the final decision will be made this year, says Ms Briede.
In the fleet of airBaltic are now 27 aircraft, including four Bombardier CS300, 11 Boeing 737 and 12 Bombardier Q400Next Gen aircraft.
