Jun 29, 2017 (newstodate): The Estonian state-owned carrier Nordica is boosting traffic into its second hub at Warsaw Airport.
Based at Estonia's Tallinn Airport, Nordica has from this week added a third rotation on the route between Tallinn and Warsaw, feeding Baltic traffic into partner airline LOT's route network, notably LOT's routes to the USA and Asia as well as flights to Central and Eastern Europe.
Nordica has thus become a strong competitor to Latvia's airBaltic that considers the entire Baltic region part of its home turf, with Riga Airport as its hub and a system of flights feeding traffic from Tallinn and Vilnius into Riga Airport for onward connections.
In addition, airBaltic has plans for operating 11 routes from Tallinn under its Horizon 2021 strategy.
Nordica is however continuously increasing its share of traffic at Tallinn Airport, from 18 percent in January 2017 to 22 percent in May 2017.
