May 18, 2017 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport will welcome the first Boeing 787 flight by Uzbekistan Airways on May 18, 2017.
The Uzbek carrier will now perform both flights on the route between Tashkent and New York with the Boeing 787-8 aircraft, one of which will go directly between the two cities, while the second will continue to call at Riga Airport as a transit stop.
Uzbekistan Airways has been using Riga Airport as a transit hub on its flights between Tashkent and New York since October 31, 2004, operating Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on two weekly rotations.
