May 09, 2017 (newstodate): A bookmaker's paradise: Air India to Stockholm or Copenhagen in 2017? Place your bet...
Now, it seems safest to place your bet on Stockholm, Sweden, as Air India's long-awaited decision on which Scandinavian market to finally select for flights from Delhi.
Not unlike a US president, the carrier's chairman Ashwani Lohani prefers sharing his intentions with the market via social media, and in his latest facebook update today, Mr Lohani cites the start of services from Delhi to Stockholm from August 15, 2017, with three weekly non-stop rotations leaving Copenhagen Airport out of the equation.
On January 17, 2017, a twitter message seemed to confirm that Air India would indeed launch services from Delhi to Copenhagen from May 2017 with Boeing 787 flights, but only a day later Ashwani Lohani, Air India CMD, told Indian press that the carrier has presented a tentative list with the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation comprising flights to six new destinations to be opened in 2017.
Featuring on this list was Stockholm or Copenhagen, seemingly leaving the eventual choice of a Scandinavian destination still in the balance.
