May 23, 2017 (newstodate): The new Norwegian carrier FlyViking is rapidly building up its aircraft fleet.
The carrier is adding its third aircraft by mid-June 2017, and two more will follow in summmer 2017.
Owned and managed by a former Wideroe pilot, Ola Giaver, and awarded its AOC on February 14, 2017, FlyViking is offering flights on a route net in Norway comprising small local airports with short runways using Bombardier Dash-8-100 aircraft.
With its currently two aircraft, FlyViking is operating flights between Troms, Bodoe, Alta and Hammerfest, with more destinations to be added as new aircraft are phased into commercial service.
The modest start is dwarfed by lofty ambitions to lease up to 19 aircraft, with the first 10 to be delivered on a leasing contract with the Canadian company Avmax, Canada, over the coming two years.
