May 29, 2017 (newstodate): Icelandair is to commission a new hangar and maintenance facility later in 2017, to cater to the needs of the airline's growing fleet of aircraft with new Boeing 737 MAX to join in 2018-21.
The new facilities are an expansion of the current maintenance buildings and will facilitate simultaneous work on two Boeing 757 aircraft.
The new facility will allow Icelandair Technical Services to perform work on one C-Check and one A/B check line as well as line maintenance on own and external customers' aircraft.
Construction works started in spring 2016, and the new facility will be fully operational before the end of this year.
