May 05, 2017 (newstodate): Georgian Airways is in the market for lease of one Boeing 737-700 aircraft, planning to put the aircraft into commercial service from later this month already.
In the fleet are now one Boeing 737-700 and a Boeing 737-500, as well as three Bombardier CRJ200LR and one CRJ100LR aircraft.
The privately-owned carrier is fighting hard on two fronts - one one side Turkish Airlines is a strong and aggressive competitor in the Georgian market, and on the other side Russian carriers like Aeroflot and the low-cost airline Pobeda are also offering strong competition, fetching increasing shares of the market.
To make life further difficult for Georgian airlines is the active effort by the country's Georgian Airports Association to lure more international carriers to set up traffic to Georgia.
