May 03, 2017 (newstodate): Iran Air is today performing its first international flight with its new Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The aircraft is due to land around noon at Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport that, together with Iran Air's flights to Gothenburg, also in Sweden, has been selected for the entry into commercial service of the aircraft.
The carrier took delivery of its first two Airbus A330-200 in March 2017, and so far the aircraft have been performing flights on domestic routes only to familiarize crews with the new type.
With the introduction of the new aircraft, Iran Air can operate return flights without need for re-fueling, thus sidestepping Sweden's ban on fuel sales to the carrier.
Iran Air will introduce the Airbus A330-200 also on the route between Tehran and Paris, served twice weekly.
