May 18, 2017 (newstodate): Iceland's Keflavik Airport is seeing a busy summer 2017, with traffic volumes again exceeding previous years.
This summer, 27 commercial airlines will operate direct flights to Iceland from 78 destinations across Europe and North America.
This compares positively with 46 destinations last summer, not to speak of 2007 when flights from only 18 dstinaitons called at Keflavik Airport.
Among this summer's pallet of destinations Europe acounts for 58 including eight in Scandinavia, and North America accounts for 19 destinations while the country's domestic services comprise one route between Keflavik and Akureyri, in Northern Iceland.
11 airlines operate flights to Iceland all year round, including Air Berlin, Air Iceland, British Airways, Delta, easyJet, Icelandair, Norwegian, SAS, Vueling, Wizz Air and WOW Air.
Another 16 carriers operate only seasonally, including airBaltic, Air Greenland, Atlantic Airways, Austrian Airlines, Edelweiss Air, Eurowings, Germania, Iberia Express, Lufthansa, Luxair, NIKI, Primera Air, Sun Express, ThomsonFly, Transavia and Travel Service.
