Apr 18, 2017 (newstodate): Sweden will become the first market to see the entry into commercial service of Iran Air's new Airbus A330 aircraft.
The carrier took delivery of its first two Airbus A330-200 in March 2017, and so far the aircraft have been performing flights on domestic routes only to familiarize crews with the new type.
But starting from May 1, 2017, one Airbus A330-200 will be deployed to the route between Tehran and Gothenburg, in Sweden, and will thereafter be serving the route once weekly.
After that, the second international route to be served with the Airbus A330-200 will be Tehran-Stockholm, with two weekly rotations starting from May 3, 2017.
Besides, Iran Air will introduce the Airbus A330-200 also on the route between Tehran and Paris, served twice weekly.
With the introduction of the new aircraft, Iran Air can operate return flights without need for en-route fueling, thus sidestepping Sweden's ban on fuel sales to the carrier.
