Apr 28, 2017 (newstodate): A project for a new Russian regional carrier Azimuth Airlines is taking shape.
Expectations are that the new airline will take to the air already from August 2017, with initially four Superjet 100 aircraft in the fleet.
Now recruiting cockpit crews, Azimuth Airlines will have 280 staff on the roster by year-end, expected to grow to 500 thereafter.
The aircraft fleet is expected to grown to a total of 12 Superjet 100 aircraft, with orders to be placed in 2019.
The home base of the new airline to serve a network of some 20 destinations will be the new green-field airport named Rostov-on-Don Platov Airport currently under construction for the 2018 World Cup and aiming for a role in connecting flights between Asia, the CIS and Europe.
