Apr 20, 2017 (newstodate): China seems to be hardening its stance towards its neighboring country, North Korea.
As of April 17, 2017, the leading Chinese carrier Air China has suspended operations on the route between Beijing and Pyongyang Sunan International Airport, citing low demand in the market.
The suspension of the thrice-weekly service indicates a cooperation with USA in reining in the North Korean regime's alleged aggressiveness.
On the other hand, the North Korean carrier Air Koryo late in March 2017 launched flights on a new route from Pyongyang to Dandung in China, close to the border, in an effort to boost Chinese tourist streams into DPRK.
Air Koryo is still operating flights from Pyongyang to the Chinese destinations Beijing and Shenyang.
