Mar 01, 2017 (newstodate): SAS expects to launch flights from its coming new base at Dublin, Ireland, from November 2017.
SAS is to set up its Irish subsidiary to provide flights between Spain, Britain and its northern European home markets and plans to base nine Airbus A320neo aircraft leased from an Irish company on an Irish AOC that will soon be applied for once the management positions are in place.
In an interview by The Irish Times, SAS' VP External Production, Mikael Wangdahl says that flights will commence from November 1, with flights from London Heathrow to Scandinavian destinations Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo.
In the initial phase, the Irish subsidiary will employ some 40 staff and a six-person management core, and the recruitment process for cockpit and cabin crews is to start later in 2017.
