Mar 14, 2017 (newstodate): Ryanair has reportedly been sniffing at the Georgian market for years, but now rumors seem soon to be overtaken by facts.
After a recent meeting between the Georgian prime minster and Ryanair's commercial director, the prime minister said that Ryanair is certainly interested in opening flights to Georgia due to the increasing tourist traffic and the sound development of Georgia's business climate, also boosted by the introduction of visa-free travels between Georgia and the EU.
Ryanair staff is now evaluating Tbilisi Airport's infrastructure prior to an eventual decision to open traffic, expected soon.
Already in 2010, Georgia's minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said in a TV interview that Ryanair may come to Georgia from summer 2011.
And in March 2010, Georgia and EU signed an air services agreement.
