Mar 28, 2017 (newstodate): That's what friends are for: China supports its neighbor, the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea with the opening of a new route.
Pyongyang Sunan International Airport has thus seen the first flights on a new route connecting with Dandung in China, close to the border, in an effort to boost Chinese tourist streams into DPRK.
The route is operated by Air Koryo using an AN-148 aircraft carrying 45 passengers.
Air Koryo is already operating flights from Pyong Yang to Chinese destinations Beijing and Shenyang, as well as to Vladivostok in Russia.
The new 30-minuts flight will allow for more tourism, which is today the main contributor to Korea's otherwise ailing economy amid world economic sanctions on the secretive country
