Mar 15, 2017 (newstodate): On March 14, 2017, Finland and Cuba signed an agreement for cooperation in civil aviation, paving the road for start of regular scheduled services between the two countries.
Starting from December 1, 2016 and until and March 23, 2017, Finnair has been operating two weekly scheduled charter flights to Varadero, near Havana, Cuba, with A350 aircraft aiming at the growing demand in the tourism segment.
But with the new agreement, Finnair may start regular scheduled non-stop flights to Cuba from November 2017, probably shifting to Havana Airport and aiming at satisfying also the demand in the business travel segment.
