Mar 21, 2017 (newstodate): Finnair continues to suffer from a shortage of pilots to man its Airbus A330 wide-body fleet during the summer peak.
The underlying reason for the temporary, but now rather enduring problem is the pilot training program for the growing Airbus A350 fleet.
Finnair A330 pilots are thus transferring to A350 license while at the same time Airbus' deliveries of the A50 aircraft are running behind schedule leaving the carrier with an imbalance between aircraft and licensed pilots.
Finnair has now contracted the aviation recruitment company Rishworth Aviation to manage recruitment of A330 licensed pilots for six-months temporary employment with Finnair during the summer season.
