Mar 22, 2017 (newstodate): The Estonian carrier Nordica has now taken delivery of its two new CRJ900 aircraft that are already entering commercial service.
Technically, the aircraft are leased by the subsidiary of Nordic Aviation Group, Regional Jet, 49 percent owned by the carrier's strategic partner LOT, as the capacity provider to Nordica of aircraft on Estonian AOC.
The new aircraft will primarily serve routes outside of Estonia as part of the subcontracting service being provided to LOT, but they will also occasionally by used by Nordica on route out of Tallinn to provide the carrier with flexibility according to market demands.
Nordica is also preparing for the expected increase in traffic as Estonia takes over the EU presidency during the latter half of 2017, adding more flights on the route between Tallinn and Brussels, with more to come.
In February 2017, Nordica transported some 32,000 passengers, up 70 percent, y-o-y, and aggregating 23 percent of all passenger flying from Tallinn Airport.
