Mar 22, 2017 (newstodate): The Estonian carrier Nordica is to launch flights to its first destination in Russia.
Starting from May 15, 2017, Nordica will commence scheduled services between Tallinn and St Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport, offering up to 13 flights a week on Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.
Flights on the new route will be operated in a code-share agreement with Nordica's strategic partner, the Polish airline LOT.
The new flights mark the resumption of services between Tallinn and St Petersburg that were earlier offered by Nordica's now-defunct predecessor, Estonian air that started flights on the route from July 27, 2009, with four weekly rotations provided by the airline's subsidiary, Estonian Air Regional using SAAB 340 aircraft.
These flights were initially on a temporary agreement with Russia pending the signatures to a formal agreement signed later.
Prior to these services, the route was operated by Aeroflot until the fall of the Soviet regime.
