Mar 31, 2017 (newstodate): The name Igor Kolomoyski rings familiar in not only Ukrainian, but also European aviation where former ownership in the Danish carrier Cimber Sterling and a serious rift with Swissport are among examples.
While Mr Kolomoyski has regularly landed on the winner's side, one latest example from Ukraine points in the opposite direction.
Through an equity fund Galtera, part of his financial and industrial group Privat, Kolomoyski has since 2009 controlled 94.5 percent of the stake in the carrier Dnepravia, taking over this from the Ukrainian State Property Fund and thereby also gained full control over the Dnepropetrovsk Airport.
In September 2015, however, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine opened a case on the privatization of the airport, investigating the embezzlement of state property on a large scale.
The Attorney General of Ukraine has now ruled that Mr Kolomoyski's stake will be written off and the property returned to the Ukrainian state.
In the case of Swissport vs. Kolomoyski over the issue of ownership in the former handling company JV, Interavia, Kolomoyski won all chips on the table through a final court decision in November 2014 - and Swissport pulled out from Ukraine.
As for the fate of Cimber Sterling, the carrier went bust after it's unhappy experience with Mr Kolomoyski.
