Mar 20, 2017 (newstodate): The Danish air broker company Blackbird AirCharter is seeing brisk growth in the executive and VIP air transport segments - but less so in the cargo business.
-Our core business today remains the sales of capacity on our own Falcon 7X, Falcon 2000S and AgustaWestland 139 aircraft fleet, and market demands in these segments are growing positively, says Ole Christiansen, Blackbird Air Charter CEO.
-We are indeed active also in the cargo charter segment but this is not developing as expected from the start. The underlying patterns are changing as airlines increasingly operate larger aircraft with significant cargo capacity on a growing number of point-to-point routes, leaving less demand for ad-hoc cargo charter flights.
-We do participate in ad-hoc cargo tenders whenever relevant and are still actively pursuing cargo business but the growth trend is less marked.
-In the rotary-wing segment we have launched a GSA cooperation with the German company Hanseatic Helicopter Service from the start of this month and have thus added this company's Bell 407 and Eurocopter EC120 helicopters to our own helicopter capabilities, says Mr Christiansen.
Set up at Vejle on January 1, 2015, Blackbird Air Charter is now in the process of opening a new office at Billund Airport by mid-April 2017, and plans are to move all activities to Billund Airport by September 1, 2017.
