Mar 03, 2017 (newstodate): Ambitions are sky-high as the new operators of Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport announce the launch of a new Slovenian carrier to compete with Adria Airways.
If plans materialize, the coming new carrier will take to the air already from this summer with flights on 11 routes including destinations Belgrade, Berlin, Hamburg, London, Podgorica, Split and Zurich as well as Xian, Chongqing and Nanchang in China.
With deliveries to start from June 2017, the carrier will eventually have a fleet comprising six Airbus A320 and fifteen Airbus A330 aircraft on Slovenian register.
Maribor Airport is planning for the handling 1.54 million passengers and 82,000 tonnes of cargo by 2022, rising to handling of two million passengers and 160,000 tonnes of cargo by 2028.
