Feb 22, 2017 (newstodate): Riga will get a second option for air travels to Iceland from this summer.
The Hungarian low-cost operator Wizz Air has announced plans for launching twice-weekly flights from Riga to Keflavik, on Iceland, starting from this coming summer schedule, adding further to its portfolio of European services to Iceland.
Wizz Air will be competing against the Latvian carrier airBaltic that will start flights from Riga to Keflavik with two weekly rotations with Boeing 737-300Starting from May 28, 2016.
Wizz Air first entered the Icelandic market with flights from Gdansk, in Poland, from June 19, 2015, adding flights from Warsaw to Keflavik from May 13, 2016, and starting also flights from Budapest to Iceland from March 30, 2016.
Wizz Air has further announced the opening of yet another route to Iceland, this time from Prague with two weekly rotations starting from May 31, 2017.
