While not publicly naming Ryanair, Ukraine's Minister for Infrastructure confirmed on TV plans by "a new low-cost airlines" to set up routes from Lviv to a number of European destinations in the fall.
Ryanair's alleged plans for Ukraine have indeed come along way, first appearing already 10 years ago.
And in 2012, Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure was meeting with Ryanair aiming at attracting the carrier to launch flights into the Ukrainian market, specifically singling out flights on routes from Lviv and Donetsk to London, Paris and Barcelona.
Wizz Air Ukraine was the country's first low-cost carrier, starting operations from July 18, 2008 with Airbus A320 aircraft, but the carrier ceased operations by April 20, 2015.
